Dr. Ella Guest

Bio
Ella is a London- and Bristol-based Health Psychologist with over a decade of experience in health psychology and behavioural science. Her work explores how people live well with long-term health conditions, how evidence-based approaches can enhance wellbeing, and the role social media plays in our daily lives and in shaping our health and wellbeing.

As a Senior Research Fellow at the Centre for Appearance Research (CAR) at the University of the West of England, she contributes to world-leading research on the psychological and social impact of appearance and health. She also produces and co-hosts Appearance Matters: The Podcast!
​
She is also an international speaker and works with organisations, charities, and health bodies to apply psychological science in practice — through research consultancy and collaboration, science communication and public speaking, and training and education.
Education
Ella has a Professional Doctorate in Health Psychology from the University of the West of England (UWE), Bristol, where she was trained in delivering psychological interventions, research and consultancy, and teaching and training across health settings.

She is a Chartered Health Psychologist (BPS) and a registered Practitioner Psychologist with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
Employment
Ella is a Senior Research Fellow and Associate Lecturer at the Centre for Appearance Research (CAR), a world-leading research centre based at the University of the West of England, Bristol.

She has more than 10 years’ experience conducting mixed-methods research, with a particular focus on the psychosocial impact of living with and managing skin conditions, positive body image, and social media.
​Ella uses a variety of qualitative and quantitative methods, incorporating patient and public involvement (PPI) and co-production approaches, and collaborates with health services, charities, and academic partners in the UK and across Europe.
​
She also teaches across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes and supervises undergraduate, MSc, Professional Doctorate, and PhD students.
